If you're like most of us, backbends can be quite emotionally and physically challenging. They're the opposite action of our everyday activities such as texting, driving, sitting at computers, and bending to pick up kids. Backbends are so healing partly because they reverse these habitual motions. They open up space, energize, and restore balance to our bodies and our lives.

In this 3 hour workshop you'll learn how to use and integrate your muscles to keep you safe and strong in backbends. Starting with simple actions, we'll teach you the important but usually overlooked details on how to access the upper back and how to open the front of the body with care. Then we'll build on these basics to take you deeper into your backbends.

We'll begin with a heart-opening sequence designed to provide a foundation on which to support better backbends. We'll break the sequence down to understand both the progression and anatomy of the body, as well as how to teach modifications of poses to suit the needs of your own body and or that of your students, all of which will build your own body intelligence and awareness.

The second half of the workshop will be a practical application of what you've learned; explore and play with backbends using props, partner work, learning assists as well as some fun transitions and perhaps even some postures you didn't think you could do!  

Plus plenty of time to ask questions.  

Expect to learn + refine the following asanas, as well as how to safely teach them to your students in a class setting: 
Dhanurasana (Bow) ~ Urdhva Dhanurasana (Wheel) ~ Camatkarasana (Wild Thing) ~ Urdhva Mukha Svanasana (Upward Dog) ~ Salabhasana (Locust) ~ Ustrasana (Camel) and more that I don't know the English names for!

3 hours $58.  Teachers are eligible to receive 3 CPD points.
